In honor of its 20th anniversary, this years Ardbeg Committee release was developed from stocks aged in wine barrels from New Zealand. Like almost all Ardbegs, the whisky is not reluctant in the least but it is incredibly well balanced considering the strong and seemingly diverse worlds of flavor it is drawing from.
On last sampling we were reminded of notes of Bramble berries, lemon & ginger tea, spiced as well as honeyed gruel, heather and eucalyptus and also certainly a healthy and balanced dosage of salty, smoky peat. A superb Ardbeg deserving of a milestone like this. Please note this is not the full evidence Committee release however the restricted version release indicated for the general market.
